Jemimah Jatau Joins AGID as Strategy and Development Advisor

The African Governance Institute for Development (AGID) is proud to announce the appointment of Jemimah Jatau as our new Strategy and Development Advisor. A distinguished tri-sector specialist and advocate for inclusive development, Jemimah brings over a decade of experience spanning public service, international development, and private sector engagement.

In her new role at AGID, Jemimah will lead our strategic advancement efforts, focusing on:
• Forging and deepening partnerships across sectors and geographies
• Attracting catalytic grants to scale AGID’s mission
• Co-creating forward-thinking curriculums for civic leadership, governance, and policy innovation

Jemimah’s portfolio is as diverse as it is impactful. She has supported the Nigerian government in formulating the National Integrated Electricity Policy and co-led the Adamawa State Electricity Policy. She has also served as a Special Assistant on Intergovernmental Relations to the Governor of Kaduna State (2018–2022), helping align state-level planning with national and development priorities.

Her dedication to gender equality and youth empowerment is exemplified through her work as coordinator of the USAID Power Africa Nigeria Power Sector Program under the Growing Green Jobs Initiative, where she helped nearly 1,000 women and youth build career pathways in Nigeria’s green economy. Jemimah has also served as a consultant on the Gates Foundation’s Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Catalyst Fund in Nigeria.

A two-time Harvard Kennedy School honoree, Jemimah holds a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard, where she was an Edward S. Mason Fellow and an affiliate of the Women in Public Policy Program. She also holds an MSc in Development Sociology from the University of Abuja and a BSc in Mass Communication from Ahmadu Bello University.

Her many accolades include:
• Eric Yankah Award for Service to the Harvard Kennedy School
• Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship – Best Graduating Fellow (Gold Category)
• Named among the Top 100 Career Women in Africa (2023)
